Everybody should have a least one pine cone ornament to dress up their tree! Simple pine cones are a gift from Mother Nature when I consider that I live in the desert Southwest. They’re hard to come by here, not like back East where I spent my first 28 years. There they littered the yard and were considered a nuisance.
Now, if I were still on the East coast, I wouldn’t have had to beg Hubby to steal some from the neighbors yard, two houses down in the dark of night. (They’re the only folks in a two mile radius that have pine cones, and I’m pretty sure Hubby knocked on the door to ask permission first.)
Now, try not to judge my pine cone ornament, and remember the saying “size doesn’t matter.” (Which we all know is a little white lie.)
This simple DIY ornament really doesn’t need any instructions. You just need a pine cone and some yarn and ribbon. Attach the yarn to the top of the cone, either with glue or by tying it around the base. (I actually used embroidery thread.) Add a decorative ribbon tied in a bow and hang.

Some folks will recommend you gently bake your pine cones at 200 degrees for 45 minute to kill the little critters that might be living inside. I say, the little critters are welcome in my home, and I skipped this step entirely. Although, it remains to be seen whether I’ll live to regret ignoring this advice.
