I have to admit I have a tiny problem with saving wine corks. I’m not sure how it started or why, (Pinterest) but I’m pretty sure at this point I could use them to turn my house into one ginormous cork board. Hubby might say that’s a good thing, considering how many holes I put in the wall to hang things. I usually get it right on about the third try, which, is a significant improvement from where I started from. I like to think of myself as a real cork connoisseur, as in I don’t save those imitation knock off’s. (Okay, yes I do, but I put them in a separate glass container where I can keep them out of sight and not be judged.)
Making these wine cork ornaments is a fab way to pare down the bead stash and the cork stash at the same time. They’re a ton of fun to make, take very little time, and are always a big hit with my friends who tend to fall into the wine snob category;-)

Here’s what you’ll need to make these wine cork ornaments
- Wine corks
- Small eye screws. They look like this.
- Assorted beads
- 2″ eyepins that look something like this, or you can simply fashion your own eyepins from coated wire.
- Round nose pliers
- Wire cutters
Step by Step Instructions
- First off, if you haven’t started your collection of wine corks, open a bottle of Cabernet and pour yourself a glass. (My current fave is Sterling Vintner’s Cabernet)
- Insert on small eye screw at each end of the cork. The top is to add your ornament hook, the bottom is where you’ll be adding bead dangles.
- String beads onto eyepins.
- Cut the eyepins to measure approximately 1/4 inch above the last bead.
- Using round nose pliers, make a loop and attach to the eye screw at the bottom of the cork. You can add as many dangles as will fit, or keep it simple with just one.
