I can’t believe fall is here already. We’re finally waking up to a nip in the air here in the Land of Enchantment and it feels wonderful after the long hot days of summer. My second craft show of the season is right around the corner, as in this coming Friday and Saturday! I’m so not ready. But then, I’m a born procrastinator so this is to be expected. I’m working on whipping up a dozen or so altered composition notebooks and thought I’d share this easy peasy process with you. In under five minutes I finished the three books shown here.
I started with a 3-pack of Top Flight mini composition books that I purchased from the Dollar Store. Yes, they were really one package of three for a dollar.
Other supplies included 6.5″ x 4.5″ card stock, although scraps measuring at least 4.5″ x 3.5″ will work just fine. Lastly, I used EZ-runner double sided tape and scissors.
Run the adhesive along the edges of the front cover, avoiding the black binding holding your notebook together.
Carefully lay the scrap paper along the binding tape, carefully aligning the edges so that your composition book is covered, then press down firmly to adhere. Trim away any excess paper with your super sharp crafting scissors.
Repeat the process for the back cover.
Voila! You now have the perfect hostess gift, stocking stuffer, inexpensive teacher’s gift, or a great little something for employee’s to thank them for their hard work.
Of course, you can pretty them up a bit more with ribbon, stamps, and other embellishments you may have laying around. The card stock I used for these was lovely all on it’s own, so now I’ll just package them in cello bags and they are ready for this weekend’s show! Enjoy.
Great idea!
