Do you have a local yarn store where you live? It’s shocking to me that I live in a town with upwards of half-a-million people and there is only ONE local yarn shop in my metro area. I’d have to go out of town to get to the second one! Sure, there are a few big box Hobby-Michaels around, but it’s just not the same.
Okay, enough whining. Anyhoo, my LYS is having a knit along this month and this is the pattern—it’s called Spira Mitts and you can find it on Ravelry. (For free;-)
The yarn I chose is a nice Malabrigo Silky Merino in the colorway Jupiter. The pattern calls for a DK weight yarn, and US Size 4 needles. I used 40″ circulars for magic loop, but you can choose your preferred method for knitting in the round.
The pattern is beautifully written with clear instructions. I love the the mitts are reversed with the cables going on way for the first mitt, and the other way for the second mitt. The thumb gusset is an especially nice construction.
I was able to complete a pair of them in a weekend and these would make an especially nice gift for someone special.
Give the pattern a whirl and tell me how they turn out!
Happy Knitting;-)
